How to Replace an audi replacement key cost G28 Engine Speed Sensor
In this video, Charles the Humble Mechanic shows how to replace the G28 engine speed sensor. The sensor is located at the top of the transmission above the flywheel ring gear. It transmits a signal the ECU via the grey wire (T55/49) which is then sent to the tachometer in the instrument cluster.
1. Engine Speed Sensor
Located on the edge of the transmission just above the flywheel ring gear the G28 Engine Speed Sensor sends an electrical signal to ECU pin T55/49 using a grey wire. The ECU uses this information to control the amount of fuel and boost. It also sends an indication to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster.
The sensor serves as a reference to correlate with the G40 Camshaft Position Sensor. The ecu must be aware when the crankshaft is TDC and where the camshaft is located so that it can start spark and injectors accordingly.
If this sensor fails, the ECU will throw the P00160 error, which means the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft are not in sync and possibly indicating the chain stretching or a jump link on the upper timing chain. However, the error code won't appear on its own, without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).
It is a little tricky to test because there are different pins on the connector and each has its own functions. The best way to do it is by measuring the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. It should read about 1000 ohms when the sensor is in full operation. Look for signs of coolant or oil in the connector bay if you have issues with this component.
2. Injectors
Yesterday, while accelerating from the highway paytoll at full speed, i noticed a huge drop in power. It was like the engine had run out of gas. Or, my injectors weren't firing. This morning i pull out the spark plugs. Three were drenched in gazoline, the fourth one was dry. I placed a tissue over each injector hole and when I start the engine with no sparks, the ones that have gazoline pop right out. The 4th one stays shut. I checked the ground connection on ECU pins 14/55/30/55/48/55/14/55/48/ I got zero ohm. So i assume the problem is in another place.
I also tried to reset the PID with no success. The car is able to start if the G28 is unplugged and runs fine when it is connected, but still has intermittent misfire issues at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62) even if it is not plugged in, shows an ice temperature of -49c. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bar when the actual pressure is zero.
I'm not sure what to do. I feel like i've pretty much eliminated everything else. However, i'm afraid that I might have missed something. Please let me know should you have any suggestions! TIA!
3. Fuel Pump
The fuel pump in the g28 receives signals from the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter is identical to the G4 sender and both work on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles. It is easy to find an extra in a wrecking shop or a parts store. It is easy to test them: simply switch your DMM into resistance mode and test the distance between pins 1 and 2 (with the bump on the connector's edge facing upwards). They must be infinite ohms.

The ECU of our 20vt turbo (3B AAN ABY ADU) engines requires to know both the speed and position of the crankshaft to determine timing of the fuel injector, etc. It uses a Crank Position Sensor G4 and an Engine Speed Sensor G28 to achieve this. If you have a problem with either of these sensors, the diagnostic scanner will display codes that could lead to an engine shut down.
A malfunctioning G28 sensor can cause an inaccurate speed counter for the gearbox or a gearbox that shifts faster than normal, and/or an unfire when in the gear. If you have any of these issues it is most likely that your sensor is deteriorating and requires audi q7 replacement key. They're inexpensive and easy to locate particularly if they're a Bosch model like ours. If you prefer, GM's version of this component is an excellent choice.
